Program – Balado Airfield

Get ready for an unforgettable week of flying, navigation, teamwork, and real aviation at the beautiful Balado Airfield. This exciting 5-day holiday club is designed for students who want to experience aviation in a real airfield environment — surrounded by aircraft, hangars, and live flying activity.

Based at an award-winning airfield, students will spend the week immersed in aviation while learning from experienced instructor Sergio. With opportunities for real flying on-site (subject to weather and operational availability), students will experience the excitement of a working airfield first-hand.

Unlike some holiday clubs that focus heavily on classroom learning, Balado combines practical aviation experiences, simulator flying, and exciting hands-on challenges in one of BYP’s most authentic aviation settings.

Throughout the week, students will take part in a range of exciting themed days, including:

🗺️ Navigation & Treasure Hunt Day

Learn how real pilots plan routes and navigate safely through the skies using headings, maps, timing, and checkpoints. Students will put their skills into practice through an exciting aviation-themed treasure hunt challenge.

🎮 RC Aircraft Day

Discover the world of remote-controlled aircraft with support from an expert guest instructor. Students will learn how RC aircraft fly, develop control skills, and experience exciting hands-on flying activities.

✈️ Boeing 737 Airline Pilot Day

Step into the world of commercial aviation and experience what it’s like to fly one of the world’s most iconic airliners. Students will learn airline procedures, navigation, take-offs, and landings while discovering what life is like as a Boeing 737 pilot.

🎧 Air Traffic Control Day

Learn how pilots and air traffic controllers communicate to safely coordinate aircraft movements. Students will practise aviation radio phraseology, communication skills, and exciting ATC-style teamwork challenges.

🛩️ Real Flying & Airfield Experience

One of the highlights of Balado is the opportunity to experience real flying at the site, subject to weather and operational availability. Students will spend the week surrounded by real aircraft, active hangars, and live aviation activity — bringing learning to life in an unforgettable setting.
