Our mission: Making aviation accessible to every young person
At British Young Pilots, we believe that every young person should have the opportunity to discover the incredible world of aviation—regardless of where they live or their financial circumstances.
Our mission is simple: to make aviation education accessible, affordable and inspiring for every aspiring pilot.
Whether a student dreams of becoming a commercial pilot, engineer, air traffic controller or simply wants to learn more about aviation, we're here to help them take that first step.
Making Aviation Accessible
Financial Accessibility
We believe money shouldn't stand in the way of a young person's passion.
That's why 10% of all our club places are bursary funded, giving more young people the opportunity to experience aviation and STEM regardless of their financial circumstances.
We also know that spreading the cost can make a real difference for families, which is why we offer flexible instalment payment options across our programmes wherever possible, making it easier to access our clubs without paying everything upfront.
Clubs That Fit Around You
Every family is different, so we've created a range of programmes to suit different lifestyles.
We currently offer:
Weekend Clubs
Evening Clubs
School Flying Clubs
Home Education Clubs
Whether you're looking for something after school, at weekends or during the holidays, there's a British Young Pilots programme to suit you.
Wherever You Live
Not everyone lives near one of our clubs—and we don't think geography should be a barrier.
That's why we created Young Pilots International, our online community that brings together aspiring aviators from across the UK and around the world.
Members can:
Join live sessions with aviation professionals
Learn through our Knowledge Hub
Complete quizzes and challenges
Enter competitions
Meet other young people who share their passion for aviation
An Affordable Pathway Into Flying
Learning to fly can seem out of reach for many families.
Our structured training pathway offers one of the UK's most affordable ways to begin working towards a National Private Pilot Licence (NPPL), helping young people build aviation knowledge and flying skills before beginning formal flight training.
Stories From Our Community
"We just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for awarding our son a bursary place on your Summer Holiday Club.
We were absolutely delighted to be able to book his place. We kept it as a surprise, and we couldn't wait to tell him. We know this opportunity will mean so much to him and will be a huge step towards the future he has dreamed about for many years.
Thank you for believing in young people like him and for making opportunities like this accessible. Your kindness and generosity will make a lasting difference, and we are incredibly grateful.
We are very much looking forward to meeting you all soon."

“It actually means the world! My child absolutely loves everything about it. After ever flight or lesson she comes out beaming with joy 😊
For her to have this opportunity is totally amazing!”

“My son is gaining in confidence week by week since joining BYP. The tutor is very approachable and explains everything in detail without assuming anything. My son is building trusting relationships with like minded youngsters whereas beforehand, he was more likely to be surrounded by negative influences and possibly become involved in County Lines activities. We know that without the help of the bursary, he would never have the opportunity to work towards his dream of becoming a pilot but most importantly BYP has given him the chance to realise that anything is possible with the right attitude and that life can be positive when he has people surrounding him with boundaries, encouragement, opportunities but more importantly fun & laughter. Thank you soo much for continuing his bursary - it means so much to him and us.”

“It has been a transformative experience being offered a bursary from BYP - it has allowed H to fly both literally and metaphorically. Her confidence has had a huge boost; she has nailed her first landing and learned so many skills. We would never have been able to access flying lessons without this support, and just to be able to see the grin on her face and how much she belongs in the air has been wonderful. We are so grateful to BYP for this opportunity and feel it will set her up for life and a future career in the skies!”

“My son has been incredibly fortunate to receive a British Young Pilots bursary. Without this help, I would not be in a position to fund this amazing opportunity.
This bursary has allowed him to turn something that was previously just a dream into something that really feels achievable. He has very much enjoyed all the modules especially learning about the aircraft including engine failures, circuits and overhead joins. The programme has given him valuable experience, increased his confidence and helped him understand much more about what becoming a pilot involves. He looks forward to his sessions with great enthusiasm and has enjoyed hearing about his teachers career paths and experiences in aviation.
What has been particularly lovely to see is how seriously he takes the opportunity. He knows that receiving the bursary is a privilege and that British Young Pilots has invested in his potential.
As a parent, I am enormously grateful. Opportunities like this make aviation accessible to young people whose families could not otherwise afford the costs involved. For my son the bursary hasn’t simply helped financially – it has given him the opportunity to actively pursue a career that he is passionate about and shown him that becoming a pilot really could be within his reach.
We are incredibly thankful to British Young Pilots for providing the bursary.”
